IST Programme - Action Line IV.5.2 "Terrestrial Wireless Systems and Networks"

The explosive growth in the number of mobile users and their increasing demand for flexible access to diverse services has motivated significant research, standardisation and development effort in the area of future wireless access systems,

and especially on UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System), MBS (Mobile Broadband Systems) such as HyperLAN, and DBS (Digital Broadcasting Systems) such as Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB).

In the future wireless access systems involving UMTS, HyperLan and DVB-T as technologically different access networks on one hand and a number of technologically different mobile devices on the other hand, the provision of wireless services becomes duly complex. The Project scope is therefore to implement a network and service management system capable of interconnecting/interfacing the Service Provider to the Network Operator(s).
