MONASIDRE

A European research project about 3G networks

MONASIDRE
(Management Of Network And Services In a Diversified Radio Environment) is a European research project about the third generation wireless networks, mainly:
:: UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunication System)
:: MBS (Mobile Broadband System), such as HiperLAN
:: DBS (Digital Broadcasting System), such as DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting).

In the future wireless access systems involving the above mentioned networks as technologically different access networks on one hand and a number of technologically different mobile devices on the other hand, the provision of wireless services becomes duly complex.

The Project objective was therefore to implement a network and service management system capable of interconnecting/interfacing the Service Provider to the Network Operator(s). The result of the research has been a prototype of the Monasidre platform.

The MONASIDRE project partners:

  • Omnys (Italy)
  • Shineline - Sequenza (Italy)
  • National Technical University of Athens (Greece)
  • Centre de Recherche Motorola (France)
  • Motorola Electronics S.p.A. (Italy)
  • Telefònica I&D (Spain)
  • Insitut National des Télécommunications (France)
  • University of Applied Sciences Valais (Switzerland)
